Frequently Asked Questions

For Students

Who can submit?

High school and undergraduate students aged 13 or older. Authors under 18 need a parent or guardian's consent, which we request by email after you submit.

Does my research have to be in a lab?

No. Computational work, surveys, field studies, mathematical work and literature reviews are all welcome, as long as the methods are sound and clearly described.

Can I submit a paper written with co-authors?

Yes. List every co-author in the submission form. Co-authors can be fellow students, or a teacher, mentor, professor or researcher who made a substantial contribution to the work. Everyone listed must agree to the submission. People who helped in other ways belong in the Acknowledgments.

Can I use AI tools?

You may use AI tools for limited help such as checking grammar, and you must say how you used them. AI tools may not generate your data, results or references, and can’t be listed as authors.

How long does it take?

Screening takes up to 3 days after payment. Peer review takes up to 14 days, or 7 with expedited review. Accepted papers are published in the next issue.

What if my paper is rejected?

You still receive the full written reviewer report. If you’re invited to resubmit, the revised paper is a new submission with a new submission fee. Editorial decisions are final.

Can I submit a paper that’s already published or under review elsewhere?

No. Papers must not be published or under review anywhere else.

Who owns my paper?

You do. Published articles are open access under CC BY 4.0, which lets anyone read and share them with credit to you.

For Parents and Guardians

Is this a real, peer-reviewed journal?

Yes. Every paper that passes screening is reviewed double-blind by at least one independent reviewer, and an editor makes every decision.

Does paying guarantee my child will be published?

No. The $30 submission fee pays for screening and review, not a result. The $175 publication fee is charged only after acceptance. Expedited review buys speed, never a better outcome.

Are fees refundable?

All fees are final and non-refundable. The only exceptions are a duplicate or mistaken charge, or an accepted, paid paper that the journal fails to publish for reasons on its side. A paper moved to a later issue because a deadline was missed is not refunded. Paying never guarantees acceptance. See the Fees page for details.

When is the publication fee due?

Only after acceptance, together with the final Word file, 7 days before the issue date. If either arrives late, the paper moves to the next issue and is still published there. An accepted paper can move to a later issue only once because its publication fee or final file was late. If they still haven’t arrived by that issue’s deadline, the acceptance lapses and the paper is withdrawn. Fees already paid are not refunded, and sending the paper again means a new submission with a new submission fee.

If my paper is accepted, will it be published on time?

Paying a fee never guarantees publication, or publication in a particular issue. Your paper is considered for the issue whose deadline you submit by, and is published in that issue only if it is accepted after no more than one round of revisions and you meet every deadline we give you: the submission fee (and any parent or guardian consent) by the submission deadline, a revision that makes every required change by its due date, and the final Word file and publication fee by the final-file deadline. Our own screening, review and decision times are set so that, when all of this happens, the paper fits in the issue. Otherwise it moves to a later issue, and no fee is refunded.

What if my revision doesn’t fix everything in the report?

Your revision must make every required change. Your response letter answers each one by its number and says exactly where in the paper the change was made. The editor checks the revision against the numbered list. If any required change is missing or incomplete, the paper isn’t accepted in that round: the editor either asks for a second round of revisions, which moves the paper to the next issue, or rejects it. Whether a revision makes the required changes is the editor’s decision, and it is final.

Is expedited review worth it?

It buys speed only: a review decision within 7 days instead of 14, never a better outcome. For the first issue (December 2026), it also extends the submission deadline from November 1 to November 15.

What will be public if the paper is published?

The article, the authors’ names and schools, and the dates it was received, accepted and published. Emails, grades and parent details are never published.

How do you protect students’ information?

We collect only what we need to review and publish papers, never sell it, and explain exactly what we keep and for how long in our Privacy Policy.

Why do you need my consent?

Authors under 18 need a parent or guardian’s consent to submit and, if accepted, to have their name published. We email you a link to give it after your child submits.
