Fees
Fees
Three fees, each stated up front. Paying never guarantees acceptance: every paper is judged on its merits alone.
| Fee | Amount | When it's charged | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Submission fee | $30 | When you submit | Integrity checks, screening and peer review, including the written reviewer report. |
| Publication fee | $175 | Only after your paper is accepted | Format checks, typesetting into the journal PDF, a permanent article page, and open-access hosting. |
| Expedited review (optional) | $75 | At submission, if you choose it | A review decision within 7 days instead of 14. It buys speed only, never a better outcome. For the first issue (December 2026), it also extends the submission deadline from November 1 to November 15. |
There are no other charges.
Payment Terms
All fees are final and non-refundable. The only exceptions are:
- A duplicate or mistaken charge, which is refunded in full.
- An accepted paper whose publication fee was paid, if the journal then fails to publish it for reasons on the journal’s side. The publication fee is refunded.
There is no refund in any other case, including when a paper is rejected, withdrawn, or moved to a later issue because the final file or publication fee arrived after its deadline.
These terms are shown again before every payment. The full terms are in our Terms of Service.
When Each Fee Is Due
- The submission fee is paid when you submit. Your paper counts as received, and our 3-day screening promise starts, once it's paid.
- The publication fee is requested only after acceptance, and must be paid before the paper is published. It's due, with your final Word file, by 11:59 p.m. Eastern 7 days before the issue date (for Volume 1, Issue 1, that's December 8, 2026). Your acceptance email and status page show the exact date.
- If the fee or the final file arrives after that deadline, the paper moves to the next issue and we email you. It's still published, in the later issue, so this is not a refund case.
- An accepted paper can move to a later issue only once because its publication fee or final file was late. If they still haven’t arrived by that issue’s deadline, the acceptance lapses and the paper is withdrawn. Fees already paid are not refunded, and sending the paper again means a new submission with a new submission fee.
- Paying a fee never guarantees publication, or publication in a particular issue. Your paper is considered for the issue whose deadline you submit by, and is published in that issue only if it is accepted after no more than one round of revisions and you meet every deadline we give you: the submission fee (and any parent or guardian consent) by the submission deadline, a revision that makes every required change by its due date, and the final Word file and publication fee by the final-file deadline. Our own screening, review and decision times are set so that, when all of this happens, the paper fits in the issue. Otherwise it moves to a later issue, and no fee is refunded.
- Expedited review is chosen and paid at submission.
Resubmissions
If a paper is rejected with an invitation to resubmit, the resubmitted version is a new submission, with a new $30 submission fee. Revisions requested during review (minor or major revisions) are part of the original submission and cost nothing extra.
How Payment Works
Payments are handled by Stripe, a payment processor; we never see or store card numbers. Your card statement will show SCIVANT REVIEW. The fees pay for running the review process and for typesetting and hosting published articles, which are free for anyone to read.
